Our Story
Celebrating 10 Years in Web Development
iguanafarmGroup is a web development company and the creators of IFModules Email Management Solutions.Way back in 1999, at the onset of the Dot-Com boom, two former co-workers from a medical technology company founded a web development business and named it after a well known reptilian from Central America. Our first project resulted in t-shirts and the promise of fortune to come (which panned out nicely, by the way). We survived the Dot-Com bust, developed an email management application and continue to develop web technology for businesses.
Strong Roots in Technology and Marketing
Jaime Pereira, our co-founder, managing partner and CTO, has strong ties in Latin America - especially Costa Rica where his family eventually settled after moving from Chile where he was born. His father, Jorge E. Pereira, was a pioneer in developing and marketing yellow page phone books for Central and South America. In 1997, Jorge launched mercadeo.com, a successful marketing website. He also consults for companies such as Dos Pinos and frequently gives seminars on marketing and sales.Ever since Jaime first uttered the word "computadora" in Costa Rica, he has been building robots, writing complicated software, inventing intelligent microscopes, developing automated slide making systems, inventing bottle inspection systems, creating internet business exchanges, designing web-based email management applications and creating GPS and PDA applications. Jaime has received 4 patents for his bottle inspection systems, intelligent microscope and one for a web related business-to-business exchange software.
Jodi Gaines Pereira, co-founder, Director of Marketing and Design and wife to Jaime, is a Florida native and grew up with a mask in one hand and a fishing pole in the other while living on Marathon Key. She doesn't fish much anymore, but designs, manages and markets several large sites. Jodi is also a blogger for the IFModules email management blog and is a contributor to work.com guides.
How We Got The Name
Over the years Jaime made numerous trips down to Costa Rica for both business and pleasure. When asked by previous co-workers why he visited Latin America so often, the answer inevitably became "to attend to my iguana farm." It was intended as a joke, but many people weren't quite sure if he was serious or not. After all, having an iguana farm in Costa Rica is not so far-fetched. Little did he know, that soon he would be founding another business, this time focusing on web technology. With offices in Florida and Costa Rica, it seemed perfectly appropriate to name the company Iguana-Farm.com LLC. In 2002, Iguana-Farm.com became iguanafarmGroup created to serve as an umbrella for its IFModules and web development divisions. We have many iguanas on the farm now, except our iguanas know how to punch out code, design and deploy websites. We don't lay around all day just eating bugs.
